Piano Scarf: Free Crochet Pattern and Video Tutorial

I love to crochet! About five years ago, I crochet a piano scarf, and I loved it….But I gave it away to my husband’s best friend because he is a professional musician, and was touring with a band, playing keyboard and guitar. I felt that he should have it instead of me.

Since then, I have been wanting one of my own, but have just put it off. Well, I finally finished another one of them, and this one I plan to keep! Haha.

Below I have posted the pattern and a video that provides instructions and some tips for dealing with the color changes and working over/weaving in the ends.

Crochet Piano Scarf

Materials

Yarn

Weight 4 (medium) yarn:
5 oz-ivory
5 oz-black

Hook

Size H/5.0 mm hook

Other

Scissor

Yarn Needle (optional)

Size

Finished size: 64 by 5.5 inches

Stitch Abbreviations Used

ch = chain

sc = single crochet

flsc = front loop single crochet

fl sl st – front loop slip stitch

st = stitch

Pattern Notes

The entire pattern is worked in front loop only (after initial row).

All rows will have 20 stitches.

For even edges, do not chain 1 at end of sc rows.

For color changes at end of sl st rows do all 20 sl st, then ch 1 with ivory and turn (if you don’t do the ch 1 the color change will look funny).

For color changes during sc, insert hook, yarn over, pull up loop, then change colors for final “yarn over, pull through 2.”
